Participants engage in interactive learning during the ECSACOG TOT training in Dar es Salaam.
The East, Central, and Southern Africa College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ECSACOG) has officially launched a 3-day Training of Trainers (TOT) course in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The course brings together specialists from both Zanzibar and Tanzania Mainland to build their facilitation, mentorship, and supervisory skills across ECSACOG-accredited training sites.
Led by ECSACOG Master Trainers, the TOT course focuses on equipping participants with practical tools to effectively support, train, and supervise residents in clinical and academic settings. The curriculum covers essential topics such as adult learning methodologies, competency-based education, communication skills, and performance evaluation techniques.
By strengthening the core teaching skills of trainers, ECSACOG aims to ensure that every accredited training site upholds the same standards of excellence in medical education.
This TOT course is a strategic initiative to promote collaboration and standardization between Zanzibar and Mainland Tanzania. It provides a platform for open dialogue, experience sharing, and the development of joint strategies to overcome training challenges and improve the quality of care.
Through peer engagement and guided sessions, trainers build strong networks that support the continuous professional development of both educators and trainees.
The TOT program is a vital component of ECSACOG’s broader mission to improve women’s health in the region by enhancing the quality of postgraduate training in obstetrics and gynecology. Skilled trainers are the backbone of this mission, ensuring that trainees are not only clinically competent but also professionally supported throughout their journey.
Participants of the TOT course are now better positioned to champion excellence in their institutions and contribute to the overall success of the ECSACOG training programme.
