The VCAT workshops equip healthcare providers to deliver empathetic, nonjudgmental sexual and reproductive health services.
In March 2025, ECSACOG successfully conducted Values Clarification and Attitude Transformation (VCAT) workshops in Zambia and Tanzania, reinforcing its commitment to advancing sexual and reproductive health services in the region.
The workshops provided safe and engaging spaces for healthcare providers to reflect on their personal values, biases, and attitudes related to SRH topics such as safe abortion care, contraception, stigma, and cultural perceptions. Through interactive discussions and scenario-based learning, participants were equipped with tools to enhance empathy, reduce judgment, and deliver patient-centred, ethical care that meets the diverse needs of women and girls.
These activities are part of ECSACOG’s broader strategy to promote high-quality, rights-based reproductive healthcare across East, Central, and Southern Africa. By fostering understanding and compassion among service providers, the VCAT programme plays a vital role in improving health outcomes and ensuring equitable access to essential SRH services.
