Year II Trainees begin exchange programme at St. Paul’s Hospital in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
The second phase of the ECSACOG Residents Exchange Programme has officially been launched in Ethiopia. Implemented in collaboration with the St. Paul Institute for Reproductive Health and Rights (SPIRHR), this South-to-South initiative aims to strengthen residency training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Family Planning, and Reproductive Health.
The programme is hosted at St. Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College (SPHMMC) in Addis Ababa, a recognized center of excellence in reproductive healthcare, training, and research. It focuses on benchmarking best practices in the integration of reproductive health into residency training, fostering positive professional attitudes, and promoting the delivery of high-quality sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services across ECSACOG member countries.
The 2025 exchange is scheduled to run from April to June. The first cohort of residents began their one-week rotation from March 31 to April 4, 2025. During the exchange, participants will rotate through various departments and actively engage in clinical and academic activities, including training sessions, presentations, and discussions on key Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) issues.
This programme reflects ECSACOG’s continued commitment to regional collaboration, knowledge exchange, and capacity building in specialist reproductive health training
