Dr. Solomon Kumbi passed away after a brief illness on 19th April 2022. Dr. Solomon was born in Harrar Town, Eastern part of Ethiopia. He studied medicine and graduated from Addis Ababa University in 1987 and later graduated in Obstetrics and Gynecology specialty program in 1995.
Dr. Solomon had served several institutions as a teacher and a clinical doctor, a department head, a researcher, among other roles. The institutions that benefited from Dr. Solomon’s service include Wolayita Hospital, Gondar College of Medical Science, Addis Ababa University, Ghandi Hospital, among others. Dr. Solomon has also been the president of the Ethiopian Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ESOG) for four years and Secretary General of ECSASOG before changing the name to ECSACOG in 2017. Dr. Solomon has also served in various other national, regional, international committees, served as national, regional and international examiner at various specialty examinations, conducted and published numerous researches, guidelines and book segments. For these and other services, Dr. Solomon received various awards from his students, and institutions including ESOG.
Dr. Solomon was a Council member representing Ethiopia on the ECSACOG Council from 2019 a position he held until his death. He was an associate professor at Addis Ababa University, College of Health Sciences.
Dr. Solomon was married and a father of two sons.
